February 14, 1996 Dufferin Aqciregate Contend With Geraldi Blessings Travel On Saturday, Feb. 3 Orono Dufferin Aggregate Major Tykes played Bowmanvîlle Blessings Travel. Bowmanville opened the scoring 3 minutes into the firsf period. Adam Wood's persistent energy resulfed in Orono's firsf goal. Blessings Travel scored again but Maft Baxter came througb for Oroino, scoring amîdsf the scuffle around the nef, the score fwo all at the end of the period. The second period was a busy one, Bowmanville eamning 2 goals right off the bat. Robyn Henderson got Orono poinfed in the rigbf direction affer setting up the puck for Matt Baxter, who scored for the Orono Leafs. Despite 2 more goals by Blessings Travel, Orono kept playing witb much gusto, resulting in another goal for the Leafs. Max Baxter slid the puck over f0 Cameron Delorme who qui ckly shof if past the Bowmanville goalie, wrapping up the second period. Bowmanville scored one minute into the third period, the only goal scored in the last period. The final score was 7-4 for Bowmanville Blessings Travel. Although Orono couldn't manage f0 score again, fhey certainly kept things in c heck for the remaining 14 minutes of the period. Family Auto's Playoff HopesDim In Weekend Loss The Orono OMHA Pee Wee Leafs dropped two games to the Omemee Sharks in weekend round robin playoff action. Friday, February 6 the visiting Sharks edged the Leafs 2-1. Bob Witberidge'scored the Leafs lone goal early in the first period assisfed by Brandon Caruana. However Omemee tied if in the second period and got the winner at 10:58 of the final frame. Shots favoured Omemee by a 29-25 margin. Sunday, February il travelled f0 Omemee and went f0 a 5-2 defeat. Once again the Leafs opened the scoring early in the second period, but the Sharks roared back wifh three straight including a power play marker. Both teams traded goals in the third period with Omemee- adding a late empfy netter for their fifth tally. The Sharks held a 27-24 edge in shots as well. A point system setiup for the tournament was the deciding factor between the Champs, and Consolation winners. A tough way to lose but thats the way the puck drops. We are proud f0 have second place.
