Armstrong kept Fenelon Falls busy in their end taking lots of shets on F.F. goalie but the size of the- gealie didn't leave mucli room te squeeze the puck in. Matt Greg (17) opened the game with a big shot slipping it past the downed gealie from-a pass by Ryan Tresise (99). F.F. rallied back with tW'o quick goals. With the pressure on, Armstrong came back with lots of action in the opposing end and finally Ryan Tresise (99) slipped a goal between the goalie's legs and then in the top corner. With a tie-te finish the gaine 1 min intervals were clocked with 5 then 4. 3 and 2 players on. Fenelon Falls fired a wicked shot to end the game 2-3. Armstrong challenged Wvhitby in the second gaine but they were eut te hit and hît hard. Ryan Tresise was the target and several times two or three players rammed him in the boards. Armstrong rallied back as hard as they could but game ended 1-7. On the third game Armstrong came eut'and dominated the action against Peterboroughi. Goals were scored by Ryan Tresise (99), Matt Greg (17), Dan Tresise (88) ending the game 4-1. Congratulations te Cory Tufts (93) who received the Most Valuable Player award. His stronùg defense skills and comic relief in tense moments helped both players and parents. Great ganie boys. On Thursday evening Feb.8, 1996 Armstrong played a regular house leag ue game against the Cutting Post who domnated our players with a quick goal. Ryan Tresise (99) rallied back, and scored 1 -1. Rob Oumiet (29) and Nick Luyck (33) made some excellent saves but with a strong, aggressive teani they slipped 2in another goal. Ryan Tresise (99) and Scott Wood (10) kept us in the gamne but with another shot by Cutting Post the game ended 3-4. striding away from the defense and firbiàg in a low shet. Newcastie respoîided with a goal at 4:47 but Apple tied things up again on a geai erease pass te Mîke Fuller (2) who was in perfect position in front te jam the puck under the gealies pads fer his second ef the game. The third began fast with a flurry of five. shets flung at goalie Kyle Jolinston (29) whe used his whele bedy - including bis head - te -stop them ail. Late in the third Newcastle went ahead on a goal at 3:24 but Apple refused te be pressed and the guys quickly tied the game at 4 when 'Ryan Campney (93) scored off a scramble in front that finished the scoring. 1Good effort by wingers Chris Buttonshaw (9), Jo-Jo Stapies (10), Carl Tordiff (8), Garrett Wood (66) and Brandon West (3)! Tournament Saturday, February 10, saw thle BaIîns at the Bellevifle Rec. Cetr or a 7 a.m. gamie ïagafýinst Lange's Photo. Newcastle scored with just 45 seconids left in the first. The teams traded geais in the second, but 3 third period goals gave'Burger King a 5-2 wîn. Our second game, at, noon, started witli a scoreless first period. Newcastle took the lead just 31 seconds inte the second, but some bad bounces and penalties allowed Darlington Auto te score 5 goals in 4 1/2 minutes. Newcastle settled sown in the third and again took control et the game but 2 third peridd goals were net enougli, final score ,was 5-3 for Darlingten Auto. The peint system found Burger King in third and in the "B" finals at 5 p.m. .The outcome of this garne was neyer in'question as Newcastle dominated, scoring just 47 seconds into, the game, adding another in the first and three in the third for the "B" trophy and a 5-0 win over Skylight Donuts. Newcastle eut scored their opposition 13-7 and during the three games took 4 fewer penalties than their opposition. Mike showed good speed Derek Sellars Derek lias made a miraculous return from a collar bone injury te, become one of the leading point- getters on the team.
