IN PRAisE 0F THE CoMMjUNIvTY It is nice to see how this cornmunity has corne forward to offer support to the anirnals at Jungle Cat World. There is one tbîng that can be said of our comrnunity (Orono in particular): whenever sornetbing needs to be done, or sorneone is in need, the cornmunity cornes together and does everytbing tbey can to make it successful. One only has to look to our new ice resurfacer to find another example. We sbould be proud of our cornrunity for that, and bopefully otber communities will look to Orono as arn example of bow to corne together in tirne of nee-d. ALL QwâUIET ONv THE CLARiNG TON FPRONT It bas been a quiet tirne at our Town Hall these past two weeks. Last week 1 believe we set a rnorning record (at least for the brief Urne that 1 have been covering Council) for the shortest rneeting. This weeks was also a short one.' Arriving late because 1 was covering another story, 1 found Council int camera (tbat's where they seclude thernselves in another roorn to talk about sensitive issues not ready for the public). After a long tirne in the roorn (where tbe discussion was heated at Urnes) the Councillors came out and ended the rneeting. Tbat's great when you want to go horne and watch tbe, Acaderny Awards, (yea, Braveheart!) flot so hot when you are looking for sornetbing juicy to write about. Things should heat up againi soon'.. Rernernber tbe GTA? Tbat's still hanging over us. This Thursday is the official day of the Clarington survey, althougb tbe survey bas been available for weeks now at different locations. To date the rnunicipality bas received 1,266 votes (witb an overwbelrning 1,242-24 vote in favour of not joining the GTA). That should give us sornetbing to talk -about for a few weeks. - In rnost cases, people say that no news is good news. 1 guess this rneans that everytbing'is, running srnootbly. In this case bowever, no news lends itself to a very boring newsweek. ~IE$ SIR THAT MOIHEP NA1UPE iS ONE flIGGiNI' VTUNNY LÀDY! Cancer can be beaten.
