The Kaitlin G roup wants to work in part- nership with the community to build a development that everyone-can be proud of. The new homes will be marketed towards the "Iempty nesters" and should add quite a bit to the Newcastle community. The Kaitlin Group wants to keep th e people of Clarîngton informed about the projeet. 'This communrity is impor- tant to you and it is important to us," said Marskell. The development will be situated on Lake Ontario, between Graham and Wilmot Creeks. As their brochure says the projeet will be "architectural- ly desîgned to enhance the community and positioned on Lake Ontario, the community centre will be a focus for social activities and gather- ings for indoors and outdoors. The spirit at school lately has been tremendous. A new shelter for young people located in Oshawa is scheduled to open at the end of April. This shelter is called the A.R.C. At the Easter Liturgy, the student body was challenged to bring in any extra clothes from homne that weren't being used. The stu- dents and staff were enthusi- astic about this project and the response was spectacu- lar. We even tied string around our fingers so that we would remember. It worked! In fact, the shelter received more clothes from us than they ever expected. The much anticipated Free Mega Milk Energy Dance put on by Much Music has come and gone. It was a huge suc- tenance, and snow remroval. The Cape Cod style homes in the development will main- ly be in the $150,000- $200.000 range, with some over $350,000. Over 45 dif- ferent plans will be made available for people to choose from. Phase One of the pro- ject will consist of around 360 homes; when the project is finally'completed, the total number should be around 1,000. The developers have done everything that they can to comply with the wishes of the Region, the Municipality, and the Ganaraska Conservation Authority. The site is setback 300 feet from the lake itself, to guarantee public access is avai4Sble. A flood plain near the existing marina will not be included in the develop- ment of Phase One, -and over 100 acres of the 250 acre site will be dedicated to parkland, making it a very lush and green development. Members of the Lions were cess and it seemed that evexy- one had a joyous time. Way to go St. Stephen's, you deserve it! In Wilmot Creek, the residents have 21-year leases on the land; in Port of Newcastle, the residents own their land. This also will help with some of the other prob- lems encountered in Wilmot Creek; the Port of Newcastle will be open totally to the public, and the roads will be public roads maintained by the municipality. The- Kaîtlin Group hopes that their development will become widely accepted by the people of Clarington. To further help in this, the street names are being chosen in conjunction with the Newcastle Historical Society to add a local historical ele- ment to the development. There are also plans to do a tie in with Newcastle's l4Oth anniversary. The best dressed hippie was Shaina Johann. Thursday was 70s day with everyone wearing the best bell bottoms and platform shoes. There was a bubble gumn blowing contest at lunch in which Lyndsee MacDonald won.
