Bovumanville Bmusiness And Pro fessional Women News by Ruth Carrigan The April meeting of the Bowmanville Business and Professional Women's Club was held at Cafe Cosimo on April l8th, 1996 with 12 members present. After a delicious meal Irene Konzelmann conducted a short business meeting. There have been changes in the names of delegates attending conventions. Judy Hagerman is delegate and Barbara Hicks is altemnate for Provincial Convention in Kingston in May. Irene Konzelmann is delegate and Mavise Carleton altemnate for National Convention in Sudbury in August. Gail Short and Mavise Carleton attended a meeting in Toronto on April 13, 1996. By-laws were ciscussed, ways to obtain new members and benefits of attending conven- tions. Gail Short read the list of new executive for 1996-1997 which will be mnstalled at the May meeting. The members were divided into two groups to discuss 9 resolutions and 2 amend- ments to the Officers' Manual to be voted on by delegates at Provincial Convention in Kingston in May. These reso- lutions refer to user fees for drugs, affordable child care, low rentai housing, retumn of legal aid, amending Employment Standard s Act, and many other items con- cemning Women's ights. The next meeting of the Bowmanville Business and Professional Women's Club wiIl be on May 16, 1996 at Port Darlington Marina. Dianne Lott, Doctor of Chiropractor will speak on How to Avoid Workplace Back Injury. Guests are always wel- come.
