Our- secretary Isabelle Challice read thic minutes of our last meeting and the executive meeting held at Inez 1Ranris' house. Our treasurer Flora Sharpe gave her report stating that our provincial grant of $1.000 had anrived. We have to date 136 mem-bers in our society and everyone is welcome. Isabelle presented a gift to Shelley Etmanskie for bringing in 19 new members. Shelley introduced our speaker Michael Sullivan, who was mnuch enjoyed by ail. Th'ley had to be able to hold the big BiIly Goat Gruif that weighs 500g, ilhe second Billy Goat Gruif that weighs 250g and the last but not least the small Billy Goat Gruif that weighis 100g. The grades 4, 5 and 6 had to make their bridges 60 cen- timeters long and with pins. The grade 3s and under had to make there's 30 centime- ters long. They hiad to make thewrs out of plasticine. I'think that pins would be easier than plasticine. Mrs. Cooper came in to help us with our Mother's Day presents. We had to do rubbings on the rice paper. Then we got to paint swirls and shapes. Al 1 can say is that it was fun. We had to do the rubbings wlth pastels, a rubbing stones and a design. The rubbing stones were from China. The grades 4, 5 and 6 joined our 3 pitch team. There are 15 kids on the teami. Their teami is Orono Public School. Mrs. Brown and Mr. Martin are the coaches. The grades 3/4 class did animal research. Everybody had to do a bookiet. And a School News special guest came it was Mrs. McLeod dressed u Lp as a coyote with the zoo keeper Shawn McLeod. With our- pro- jects people did different things like a talk show, a, radio station or you can read it out loud. You have your choice. Mrs. Metcalf the dairy edu- cator came in on Monday to talk about healthy food. She showed us what cows eat and what we should have to eat and drink. Milk, macaroni and cheese, fruits are four important foods. Vegetables, OnIy $5825Qoo* cereal, bread, wholeý wheat bread, strawberries, pears, apples, carrots, checese, pineapple. lettuce, pliums are energy foods. Mrs. Caron and Ms. Newirth are learning about motion geomietry in their quilt unit. Mrs. Gunn presented quiltlng techniques and shared some quilting designs. The children are bringing in squares of material', parents will be helping to sew these squares into a quilt. Also our sehool is having a book fair.
