May 24 Fire fighters responded to a motor vehicle accident in the westbound lanes of Hwy 401 east of Waverly Road at 12:52 ar. A grass tire erupted near Baseline and Spry Ave. in Bowrnanville. May 25 An alarrn was activated at 2051 South Service Road in Bowrnanville. Fire crews were busy responding to, check-out caIs all day. They responded to 45 West Side Drive in Bowrnanville twice, one hour a part. They also responded to cails at 207 Townline Road in Courtice and 100 Waverly Rd. in Bowrnanville. May 26 3685 Lakeshore Road in Newcastle was the scene of a check-out calT at 11:00 ar. A structure tire at 214 King St. E. in Newcastle brought out the fire fighters at 4:09 p.rn. 3499 Reg. Rd. 57 in Bowmanville was a check out caîl for the fire department. HwTy 401 was the site of another accident, this time in the east bound lane, just west of Mill St. in Newcastle. Just ask Gord Bames and Gary Adams of the Barney Adams Blues.Band anid they'll tell you all about it. 40 years of friendship has helped fos- ter a love of the Blues (and Harley Davidson motorcycles) which has led to the forming of a rather successful local band. They started off playing together 25 ye ars ago, but only became serious about it 2 years ago, whien they start- ed playing a Blues Jan) at Hieifer and the Haîf Pint in Whitby. This will be their sec- ond time playing in Orono. "The Orono Town Hall is a nice place to play ini. ..it's a nice crowd. . .it's a nice pl ace to go," says Gord Barnes (Barney). "The energy of the crowd dictates the energy of the band." Gary Adams (Adams) chimes in: "People who want t dance, get up and dance and have a good time... .every one should have a good time." Gord, a realtor by trade, and Gary, a chiropractor, really love playing in the band. "We want to share the joy of the Blues. Thc Blues isn't a sad thing, it's an emo- tional thing," says Adams. "We don't take ourselves too seriously, we just want to make good music." "We're not quitting our day jobs," Gord adds. "It's a nice break from work. We really enjoy performing for people." People coming out to, hear the band play can expect to hear a combiniation of cover tunes and original songs. Expect to hear such Blues standards as "Hoochie Coochie Man"' and "T-Bone Shuffle." Their style of music is Texas and Chicago style Blues in the same vein of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton, as opposed, to t 'he southern style of Blues music.
