Al Eyes Watc Mosport Park will be the site of a second stand alone music concert when it becomes the home for "The Warped Tour" produced by Eden Entertainment. The concert wilI be held on July 27, and further announce- ments will be forthcoming. Clarington counicil expressed, some concerns about this concert, wanting to see how this weekend's Eden Fest at Mosport goes. "If the l3th is a disaster, can we say there will be no more concerts including the one on July 27th?" asked Mayor Hamare to the Munîcipality's solicitor. "Could the success of the festival coming up be a condition of grantîng the per- m it (for the Warped Tour)?" asked Councillor Larry Hannah. Council was informed that if any by-laws are broken at Eden Fest, they are within the right to cancel any further concerts, Much the same with the planning of Eden Fest, the necessary by-laws have not been complied with for the Warped Tour. Time limits set by the Municipality on appli- cations for events and licens- es have -not been met. "I'm not sure why we are even con- sidering this. You'd think they'd learn by now," said Councillor David Scott. Mr. Scott felt that they should deny the license outright. Turn them down now and they'll get the message and comply with our time lines (in the future)." Mayor Hamre felt that no matter what they did, they would always have trouble with the planning stages with concerts, and they did not want to risk a legal confrontation over some- thing like time lines. The town will be paying roughly $18,000.00 in over- time to staff and to acoustical Blood Supply Blood supply levels are reaching a crîtical shortage. Donors are desperately need- ed to help increase the amount of blood on hand., For whatever reasons, donation levels to the Red Cross have been down, which has led to this shortage. Every little bit helps, and peo- ple of ail blood types are njeed- ed. Its not everyday that tak- ing a half an hour out of your regular routine can help save someone's life. Just as an example of how important the blood supply is, and how fast it can be deplet- engineers hired to monitor noise levels at the concert. "The majority of the S$18,000 is being spent on the acousti- cal engineers," said Clarington CAO Bill Stockwell. The, acoustical engineers are a requirement for Mosport to hold the event; the Munîcipality has hired them to help'ensure that the local residents are not both- ered by excessive noise.
