Newcastle Hosts Sicmk Kids Fund RlaiBer TAX E TFIA TM! A fund raiser was held on Saturday to raise money for the Hospital For Sick Chidren in Toronto at Sunset Park in Newcastle. Sidewalk art was a popular event, as kids were allowed to draw pic- tures on the walkways in chalk. The young artists here are Erin Ward, Chantelle Prior, Daniel Adams, Shelley Adams, Cathy Davis, Jesse Berard, and Megan Berard. by Phiil Feltham The second annual fundraiser for the Hospital for Sick Children was held on Saturday at Sunset Park in Newcastle. Over 40 volunteers assist- ed in the days activities from the Bean Bag Toss to the tug of war. The water activities were a blast, happy faces and splashing water were seen in the Sponge Toss and the Water Relay. The kids loved the other special attractions. Artists Mark Feltham and Peter Ash spent at few hours of the day drawing favorite super heros and cartoon characters. in Cartoon Corner while Derek Barton, Moya Tennant and Tracey Doty showed their artistic talents in face paint- ing. There was a 131Q, a Bake Sale and the ever popular Candy Floss to make the day complete. There were other fun filled activities as well. Compared, to last year's fundraiser which brought in over $400. this year's made twice that arnount, approxi- mately $800. The organizers of the event had little time to prepare, but ail paid off in the long mun. Annie Ward, one of the many organizers of the Sick Kids Fundraiser, was very grateful for ail the'sponsor s, volunteers and everyone who helped make the event a vexy successful one. Annie Ward along with other people who helped organize the event did a very good job on raising money for the Sick Children's Hospital.
