The .Newcastle Horticultural Society held their annual flower and veg- etable show on Tuesday, August 13 at the Newcastle Community Centre. There were quite a few arrange- mients on display that day and it truly was hard for the judges to make thieir final decisions. Judges choice was won by Erla Jose, Peoples choice Wtas won lby Wylma Alin and her bountiful bas- ket. The Elmhurst Silver Cup was won by Lorna Atkins. Lomna was also awarded first for having the most points in the show. Hazel Crago placed second, Narda Hoogkamp was third, Vicki Lesnick was fourth and Jean Riekard was fifth. Narda Hoogkarnp also received best decorator for her "High Hopes" arrangement. Ail the children in the club who exhibited were each pre- sented with an award for their own flower arrangement or other creation. Nicole Norton was awarded Ifirst place for having the most points in the children's division. Our worker arranged a provided transportatito view units, acted as an advc cate with landlords on beha of youth, made referrals other services youth mig] have needed (counselling education, legal services etc.), and provided valuabl informiation on independen living such as cooking an( budget skills.
