Devonish reminisced about the time-she spent in Atlanta, but the opening and closîng ceremonies seemed to have a special place in her heart, although she did complain about the outfits they were forced to wear. "I tried to get behind the flag bearer, because that's where the camera would be, and I want- ed my mom and dad to see me," said Nicole. Her father Allan, her mother Angela, and her sister Michelle, were al with Nicole in Atanta. Mary Ann of Orono's Jungle Cat World holds Savannah, a three week old African lion cub and Ringo, a 4 week old German Shepherd puppy. The two animals spend a lot of time playing together at the zoo. In fact, ail of the lions were hand raised. The first lion, Pasha, was originally a family pet and raised with Wolf and Chris Klose's dogs. It makes them easier to handie," said Chris. Savannah was allowed to stay wîth her mother for the first 10 days, and then removed so she would be easier to train. Savannah will retum to the pride when she is around 7 to 8 months old. Savannah is just like any other baby; she needs to, be bottle fed, she needs to be burped, and even a lion wants middle of the night feedings (you try saying no to a hun- gry lion!). Visitors to Cat World can see Savannah lounging in her playpen in the gîft shop of the zoo. Volume 60, Number 34
