Orono Major -Squirts Champions Well wshers froma the vil- lage of Newcastle and sur- rounding communities filed into the Newcastle Community Hall, on Sunday September 29th to honour Wallace Couch at the retire- ment party held in his hon- our. A Guest book was provided to sign before viewing various pictures of Wallace and his famîly and friends that had been put on display. Before looking at the pictures the guests lined up and congrat- ulated Wallace. There were beverages and snacks provid- ed. -Tenzin, the manager of the local I.G.A. in Newcastle, thanked everyone for coming and then he said a few words about Wallace and presented Wallace with a few tokens ýof appreciation for all of his hard work and dedication that he showed in many ways during his employment. Wall ace was very moved by all the love and emnotions that were expressed by -everyone present and was only able to say a few words of thanks. Afrer Wallace had spoken everyone sang, "For He is A Jolly Good Fellow", after which there was a-loud round of applause. It truly was an evening that I'm sure every- one present will always remember and treasure. Everyone is invited to corne on out and be -a part of the Newcastle Faîl Festival that is to be held at different loca- tions throughout the village of Newcastle on Saturday, October 5th. There is to be a pancake breakfast at the Town Hall,- a Barbeque, the B.I.A. Bed Race, a pie eating contest, country music and square dancing, a craft and bake sale, a children's bike decorating, contest, and a dance in the. evening at the Commun ity Hall. Other activities include games, a dunk tank and face painting. There will also be clowns and K.C. "The Bear On A Bike" will also be present. The hîs- torical society will also be open to the public.
