The meeting is open to the public who are encour- aged to attend. The January l3th meeting resulted out a meeting of close to forty lnterested -parties in December. The December meet- ing failed in an attempt to form an executive for an association to carry-on plans for the future, of the forest. A small volunteer committee is to report January 13 with possible proposais and what direction a group might take as to the future of the forest'and the watershed. The December meeting wit- nessed many viewpoints being expressed but they hung in limbo. These suggestions ranged from a Friends of the Forest/Conservation Area to the establishment of a Land Trust. It was also stated that a logical approach could be a review of the business plan assembled for the Conservation Authority. The future existence of the Conservation was also ques- tioned to which Dan Dell, a member of the ORCA stated he feit the authority would stay afloat and could play a roll in planning process for munici- palities. Dr. Guselie, a member of SAGA, stated that an executive group ha d to be formed at the next meeting (January 13) as meetings could not continue as the meeting tonight (December). "We have got to get an organi- zation', he said. New Owners Of the Orono Weekly Times Orono Man' Many local residents at the present time vlew the Sunday evenlng CBC presentation of "Wind at My Back". It gets to be exciting to see something of Orono on nation- al teleision. Certainly in the past there lias been other theatre produc- tions that had Orono back- grounds of one kind or another and more wlll happen in the future. As to the other movie shot Writings Being Retold, in Orono recently locais are waiting for the American July lst parade dow the Orono Main Street compiete with band, majorettes and just plain mai-chers. Smile Theatre which has played in the Orono'Town Hall and in Bowmanville lias taken a page out of Oronos history in their production of -Me and My- Bike" which is to be on stage in Bowmanville Baseline Centre on Tuesday, February 4th. The story uine of "Me and My Bike" lias been adapted from the weekly wrtings of a W. L. Smth who llved in south Orono ownlng the present Sisson farm. Smith in the spring of 1897 began a series of tips 'a-whieei' through rural Otri.Thesýi* expeditions were undertaken with the object of obtaining first-hand information for pub- lication In his, column in the Weekly Sun. The column out- iined the actual conditions on the farms in Ontario at that time. W. L. Smith ived out his life in Orono and was buried in the Orono cemetery. The production on February 4th will not present a view of a marching band down the Main Street but it does have a con- nection to Orono. Christmas Ca ntata Kirby Church It was an interesting evening of Christmas music entertain- ment at the Kirby United Church on December 15th with the presentation of the "Sing Gloria" Cantata under the direction of Sandy Brittain. There was excellent audience support for the evening. The program started with the enthusias.,tic audience singing Christmas carols. The Cantata was presented by the 25 voices of the Eldad/Tyro.Ne Choir and the ten member Bowrnanvllle Seventh Day Adventist Hand-Bell Choir. The evening was co-ordinat- ed by Heather Johnston. Refreshments were served. We take this opportunity to introduce ourselves: Herman and Margaret Zwart, along wlth our four, children, Tricia, Adrian, Calvin and Monica, as the new owners of the Orono- Weekly Times. The transfer of ownership from Sonbon Publishing and Troy Young was completed December 31, 1996. We wish Troy ail the best in his future endeavours. As printers, we bring to you an extensive knowledge of the printlng industry dating back to 1975 and have operated our company, Lyle Prlnting In Oshawa since 1985. During this time we have printed everything from Business Cards to Flyers, Posters, Letterheads, Bookiets, Four Colour Process, as well as customer printing for other printers, both large and smrall, from Cobourg to Pickering. This is how we first started doing business with the Orono Weekly Times, then Roy Forrester, and have lad a great relationship since. We are confident that we will continue to provide quality printing to our existing customers as well as new customers at our Orono location. We are expected to comp lete the business move to Orono during this montl. Publîshing a weekly newspaper is a new venture for us. This brings wth it a new responsibility, which we are happy to take on. We are excited about this change, the new challenges and the new experiences. We ask that you be patient witl us.
