It looks like the Orono Tykes, flnflshed second in the stand- ings, one point out of first place - not bad, eh? Some of the Bowmanville teains rely on one or two players for their wlns - Orono showed that a team effort can get the job done: scaring, defense, goal- tending was spread riglit across the team and every player contributed. Congratulations ta coachi Gord Blaker, assistant Rab Harding and Steve Campney lots of leadership, liard work and yes, patience! JEVON STAPL ES (22) Our hardworking, puck- clearing, toothless defense- man for Geraldi Insurance. by Phyllis Lowery It lias certainly not been very springllke this past week, it remains cold but at least the days have been briglit. It certainly lias been ideal conditions, most evenings ta observe the comet Hale-Bott. We liaven't even had ta go out of the house ta watcli it. It lias shone brlglitly in the north-western sky. On Sunday niglit I watclied the eclipse of the moon fram aur living roam wlndow, it took 2 liaurs ta almost caver the moon with sliadow, at mid- niglit the sliadow started ta shink. Sunday was a clear cool day, there was a good tumnout at Churcli. The service started witli Rev. Black welcoming alI and teling us that there were 18 out ta the new Bible Study on Wednesday evenng and that the children that won the memory contest had been treated ta lunch on Saturday. There was an excellent turnout ta the Puppet and Black iglit show on Saturday evening. Al but 1 ticket lias been sold for the Seder sup- per on Thursday, Mardi 27th. The Christ Candie was lit and prayers were offred for the famnilles of James Hay and Iris Fowler. Iris spent lier ear- lier years living on the 6th lune, and was well known in this area. The Gatherlng liymns were -I Came To The Garden Alane", "Blgger Than Ail My Problems" and "'Wlen I Survey The Wandraus Cross". The chair did a wonderful rendition of the liymn, "He Could Have Called Ten TIhousand Angels". The chtîdren were called ta the front, David asked them, have you ever liad something s0 exciting happen that you wanted ta mun riglti n and tel yaur mother or father al about It, or you just liad ta tell sameone? You rush into the house but, there Is no one there ta tell it ta, no one is around. You feel frustrated but, you carp always tell it ta God. David sald that lie had been feeling' very frustrated this week, lie just couldn't flnd the riglit lymn ta pull the Sermon lie was planning, together. Then lits eyes feU on the book tellng tlie story about haw Isaac Watts as a child said lie wasn't going ta go to Churcli any more because the music and hymns were so dull. His father told him that if lie could write anything better lie would see that it was played in the Churcli. Isaac Watts as a boy wrote a liymn a week for 2 years and they were played in -tue Churcli and are stili played. David decided that lie would write a liymn for tuis service and lie wrote a liymn called Gethsemane ta be sung ta the tune of an aIder hymn in aur hymn book. ThÉe children's liymn was, "He Paid A Debt". The Prayer of Self-Examination and Words af Assurance were given. The Scripture was from Luke 22; 39-46. The sermon ,was titled, "The Choice". Moments after eating sup- per with His Disciples, Jesus went out into the garden ta pray, Jesus could have fled and avolded being taken away but He chose nat ta do so. His best friend liad left the table and gone ta lead tie soldiers to Hm. Jesus knew what His fate was, Jesus was- Devine but He also was human and He was afrald. Jesus did not want to die but He prayed to God, His father. God did not diminish Jesus facilities but He did give Hm the strength ta face what was coming. 1We are given the choice of right or wrong and often we choose wrongly and terrible things happen. Hitler made the choice ta start a war and millions of peoples lives were changed. Dr. MeLure made the choice ta niinister ta -the people in China often putting his ownlife in danger until lie was finally banned from China. Jesus did not want ta die, there was no Joy in death for Jesus. He was wrestling with God, Moses also wrestled with God when lie faced the burn- lng bush, lie didn't want ta carry God's words back ta the people, God said that He would send Moses' brother Aaron, finally they reached 'a compromise. Mary, a young girl also wrestled with God when she was told that she would be the mather of Jesus, but ended wIth saying, -Thy will be done". 1Jesus was human, and He wrestled with God and God gave Hlm the strength ta face His death on the Cross. Jesus had placed His life in God's hands at the age of 12 when after being missing for 3 days, lits parents found Him and He told tliem that He had been in His Fathers house. -Jesus placed His fate in the hands of God, we must also face aur fate. We may also be wrestling with i11 health, an abusive relationship, trying ta give up smoking or drugs but, whatever we are facing we have the choice of placmng aur fate in the hands of God and He will give us the strength ta face whatever confronts us. The Hymn "Getsemane" was sung. The Prayer' of Thankfulness given, the Offring received followed by the Prayer of Concern and Commitment. The clasing hymn was I Cannot Tell".
