The jackpot stili hasn't been won. Due to the next Bingo date falling on Good Friday, the next Bingo will be held on. Frlday, April 11lth. 1On Friday. March 2lst the regular Euchre was held with 8 1/2 tables -in play. High score went to George Brewer with 86, second place Richard Mitchell with 8 1, Diane Polley came third with 80 and Ralph Langley fourth with a score of 79. The draw was won by Doris Weatherall and Jean Jilasen won the free admis- sion to the April 4th Card Party. The Mens Lodge are hold- ing a Euchre Tournent on Saturday aflemnoon April 5th. Corne on out and bring a partner -- supper served afterwards. All the Lodges are very busy gettlng ready -for the Grand Lodge of Ontario E. Sessions. These Sessions are being held at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa due-to the lack of facilities in this area. The Lodges from this area will be the Hosts. The Ladies Lodge are putting on a Degree on Thurs., April l7th. The Junior Lodge will be putting on their work on Friday, April 18th and Cobourg Ladies Lodge will be in charge of the Seating Drill on Friday, April l8th. It promises to be a very busy week. The Men are in charge of registration for their Sessions which are taking place at the same time as the Ladies sessions. David Crornbie, made pre- sentation to council on behaif of -The Waterfront Trust. Crombie states that St. Mary's Cernent is willing to move their stone crusher toaa piece of property in the Maple Grave and Service Rd. area owned by Darlington Hydro. This move would open up the waterfront to the public and protect the rnarsh. Darllngton Hydro is not keen on releasing this land at this tirne because it rnlght be needed for future world r esearch centre and fusion lab. Mayor Hanire stated that the taxpayer cannot afford ta fund a such a project. Councilor Pingle pointed out that rnoney could be made available without burdening the taxpayer. She rnentioned there was silîl money in the -Skate 88" fund and other funds created by selllng surplus lands. Councilor Pingle feels this rnoney would be well spent on 120 acres of waterfront park land and for the preservatian of the rnarsh. Council, St. Mary's Cernent and The Waterfront Trust will continue to work towards a solution favourable ta the res- idents of Clarington. Brian Jung, Chairman of the Clarke Museurn Board thanked council for aIl their help towards the building of the new storage shed. Exhibits that were stored in different locations have now been moved ta the new shed. An invitation was extended ta oJ' Members of Council ta attend M P U tne opening of thle New Storage Shed on April 13 at 2 P.M. On January 9, Darhington became the first power plant to obtain certification under the International Organization for Standardization (S0) 14001 Standard for Environmental Management Systerns. The IS0 is a world federation that sets global standards of per- formance in a variety of industrial sectors. Onily 64 facilities in the world have been given the ISO 14001 Certification. Red Cross gives thanks, The 'Bowrnanville Réd Cross would like to'thank everyone who came out to give blood at the March l9th Blood Donor Cllnic. In total there were 299 donors and 264 units of blood collected. They would also like to thank the 3rd Bowmanville Pathfinders and their leaders for volunteering their Urne to help out and Nick from the Donut Gallery for donatlng donuts for the volunteers. Newcastle village for posses- sion of stolen licences plate. Driver was disqualîfied and served warrants. Accused is believed to be involved in break and enters in the area. Mar. 19 - Tail gate stolen frorn truck while parked on street outslde 3454 Taunton Rd. E. Orono. Mar. 20 - Recycling truck stopped to pick up garbage on Hwy. #2 in Newcastle. Rear of truck was struck by a, vehicle while driver was attempting ta pass truck. Mar. 22 - Mikes Place Convenlence Store in Newcastle was entered by using a crowbar ta open the steel door on west side of building. Nothing was taken. Mar. 22 - A 38-year-old male Orono resident, while exiting a private drive on 3rd con. and Golf Course Rd.. spun and hit guard rail1, then went into the ditch.
