On May 10, 1997 the Newcastle Lions Club will be holding a celebration in the Newcastle Comunlty Hall in honour of their 5th Anniversary. For fifty years the Newcastle Lions Club have been rendering a service to the village of Newcastle and surroundlng area. In the com- ing weeks leadmng up to this grand celebration they would like to help the people remem- ber sonie of the projects and activities they fiave been involved with. One projeet that the Lions Club of Newcastle has beeni active. in is the Memiorial Hospital in Bowmanville. Over the past few years the Club has contrlbuted nearly $50,000.00. 1984-1988 - $35,649-10 for the establishment of a Iiabetes Clinlc 1992- $6,500.00 Diabetic Cllnie (purchased TV, VCR, table carpetrno 1995 - $6,4100.00 for a Cardiology Stretcher 1996 - $500.00 general equipment fund 1996 - $500.00 towards an eye bed for our ophthalmolo- gy program The Newcastle Lions Club la very happy to be able to support such worthy pro]jects. The lands offred for sale inr.ýolve three parcels with a total acreage of'375 acres. Some 1000 acres of the former Nurseryv lands are to remnain in public ownershlp. These lands include the environmentally sensative creek and valley lands of the Wilmnot ai-d Orono streams. These lands are not to be actively managed.
