This was the 1 l th annual toumainent held in the naine of Larry Bews - an electrician fatally lnured in an industri- al accident. This two-day event Is fthe largest annual gathering of skilled trades persons and, their familles from GM-Oshawa. The above picture was taken at the offi- ciai puck drop Saturday Morning. In the picture are: Don Whalan - Chairman, CAW, Carl Vajda from Molsans who sponsored the tournament. AI McPhee - organi zer, Candy Bews, Dave Broadbent - Financial Secretary CAW, Larry Carrol - organizer. Craig Kent's team "The Body Shop" won the tournan-ent. After a nine day break from hockey the Apple Blossom MovIce hockey clut played their best gaine of the year. The victIms were National Trust. The Apple Blossom won their second game of the play- offs 6-2. The crowd was entertained by some great goaltendîng, tough defence, and some aggressive ofi'ence. The hot goalie glove was held by Lucas Szemiotwho was verv confident between the pipes. The -defence part- ners were Paul Bridger, Mike Howe, and Brien Konopka, Jonathen Koerssen. They played their positions very well! The flrst Orono goal was scored by Mark Spiers assist- ed by Greg Howe, The second was scored by Garrett MacDonald from Daniel Reilly. The third was scored by Adain Wood from Emma Lunn who played very tough for her team on the left wing. The fourth was scored by Johnathen Picco from Adain Wood. The fifth goal was scored by Mark Spiers from Adamn Wood. The sixth goal was scored by Greg Howe from Mark Spiers and Adam~ Wood. Nice job Adam for your three assists. April 12, Orono Arena, Apple Blossom vs. T.N.T. League. The Apple Blossom club canried their momentum into this gaine. The Apple Blossom struck first with a beauty goal from Garrett MacDonald. The assist went to Daniel Reilly who was a real work horse on this goal. T.N.T. rallied scorlng a goal per period to wînthe gane 3- 1. This was a close game that could have gone either way. Chris Buttonshaw made his debut on center and per- formed well. Heather Maitland played a taugh gaine on Right Wing. Congratulations go to Coach Mattland and Co. A very close game as both teams needed the points ta advance to the 'A' finals. Goaltender Nick Williams played a solid game for us while making many great saves. Good game Nick! Orono's only goal was scored by Brandon Ernst, unassisted at 8:00 into the 3rd period. Nice goal Bran! Orono's defence played a great garne on the blue lime and offence played a great gaine fore checklng and back checking. Good gaine guys! This loss puts us inta the 'B' finals against Blessing, Travel on April l2th at 2:30 in Orono. Jerrod Coe is stili away due ta illness. Jerrod Coe back ini llneup! Wei orne back Jerrod! The first garne of the 'B' finals ended up in a 5-2 loss for the Leafs. Nick Williams had his work cut out fo" him. Nick's hard wark kept this 'game from being a total blowout. The Leaf s two goals were scored by Robert Kay with an assist ta Matthew Carter. The boys played a hard gaine but were always one step behind Blessing Travel.
