Orono Donut Gallery lost our on 'D' finals The Orono House League PeeWee team roared to finish on home ice Sunday night to take the "B" Championsbîp. Coming in to this garine witb a loss and a tie the boys knew tbey had to, pull out all the stops to win this champi- onship. Not only did they take the frst goal plus the three goals they needed to win they shut down Rýeynolds with a 5- 0 score. Rick Howe tore onto the ice and made certain Orono had the first goal in the first peri- od.. Subsequent first period goals by J. P. Pisani and Adam Rypstra cinched two in On April 1 th at the Orono Arena, Apple Blossomn Shop met Carter's Bakery. This was a great game by both teamis resulting in a 4-4 tie. The Apple Blossom playoff record stands at 2-3-1-- not quite enough to advance to the UD finals. 1 think all the parents of the Apple Blossomn Club are very proud of the effort made by these young players. This team was excellent competition, made the Orono boys work hard to prove how great tbey can play. DeJong took two more assists and Jake Bonetta by Adami Wood from Mark Spiers and Greg Howe. Coachi Maitland assigned Chris Buttonshaw, Emmira Lunn and Johnathon Picco the tough job of checking Carter's- No. 1 offence uine. After a couple of bad breaks on the first shift they r'ose to the challenge and took control. The defence played a very strong guame for their team.' Council gave full endorse- nment to, the Defibrilla7tion Program proposed by the Clarington Fire Departinent. A defibnillator is used in a-r emergency situation to restore the pulse of a person who has suddenly collapsed due to heart attack. The Pire Department would like to equip ail five fire stations in Clarington with a defibrilla- tor! Captain Gord Weir and Marty Epp, coordinators of the Base Hospital - Oshawa Genleral, gave council a demonstration of the type of defibrillators the fire depart- ment is hoping to buy. Now that council has given the go- ahead the fire department can start raising the $70,500 needed to buy the equipment and implement the defibrilla- tion program. Mr Huber of Solina is applying ýo have his property rezonied from agricultural (A- 1) to a zone appropriate to permit the establishment of a commercial dog kennel and to recognize the size of an existing accessory structure whicb exceed the maximum allowable floor area. The owner of an existing apartment-in-house bas up to one year from now to apply for registration. The applil- cation fee for registration is $50 which wlll contribute toward the cost of processlng the application.
