Bowmanville rotary outline youth centre to council Paul Morris on behaîf of the Bowmanville Rotary Club outlinied to Clarington council on Monday evening a frame work in which a Clarington Youth Centre could operate. He outlined to coundil the help which was avaflable for such a program which could be undertaken in the former Fire/Court building. He said he -would hope that a pilot project could be started in September of this year and that funding was available froin numerous resources. He said satellite centres could be developed in areas outslde Bowmanville at a latter date. He spoke of support -from educators, police and the Oshawa/ Clarington Association for Conmunlty Living. It was stated that 0 s ha w a/ Cl1a r in gto n Association for Communlty Living along with the John Howard Society and Durhami Social Services will be making use of offices in t-he Flre/Court building and would be available for assistance to the Youth Centre. Mr. Morris told council that the initiative for the Youth Centre must corne from the youth themiselves. *the support is there for them. Council received the presentation and stated they will be willing to work with the parties lnvolved. Grade il students from the three area high schools: Bowmanvllle, Courtice and Clarke.
