EsPecialiy curi- ous when you cà-psider what lousy drivers so Tnany of us are.- But don't take MY word for it -- ask your frlefldly local insurance adjusler. Or per- haps lie or she's fot so friendly anymorÊe Adjusting accident insurafice dlaims will do tliat to a person. I don't know if you've hiad a car accident lately, but tliere's always a ýpace on the insurance form where the driver is asked tà summarize the details Of lis or lier mishap in the fëwest Possi- ble words. Here are just PL few of the dlaims that have been tumned I collided wtth al stationarY truck coming the pther way. In an attempt ffr111 afly, I drove into a teleplO ne POle. I told the politèe I was not injured, but on ifmOving my hatfound that I hadfractured my skull. The guy wa.s ail over the road. I had to swerve a num- ber of times before I hit hinm. Sometimes tlie excuses offered by drivers have a physical disabilities' compo- nent: I was on the way to the dloctor with rear end trouble when my universaljoint gave way causing me to have an accident. And sometimes tlie cause of the accident is riglit out of tlie X Files: An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished. The odd driver wili try to enlist tlie sympatliy of tlie insurance dlaims adjuster: I pulled awayfrom the side of the road, glanced at my> mother-in-law and headed over the emba.nkment. Other drivers are quick to' give credit to emergency sup- port and rescue teams.: I wais thrownfrom the car it let the road. 1 was laterfound in a ditch by sorne stray cows. And finally tliere are some accident victims who sound too confused to MIl out a form, mucli less drive a car: Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collded utth a tree I don't have. Speaking of. confused drivers, I arn delighted to report that Sue Evan-Jones of Yate, England, has lier driver's lic ence. Finally. Slie's been trying to get it for the past 27 years. During tliat Urne, Ms. Evan- Jones lias dropped the equiv- alent of $30,000 paying for 18 liundred driving lessons and wearing out ten consec- utive driving instructors. The first item slie tried tlie test she plowed tlie car into a construction site. The second Urne, slie cut off a car that was trying to pass lier. One of those. striped cars, you know? With tlie flashing liglits on top and POLICE written on the fender? The third time Sue Evan- Jones tried tlie test slie knocked over a small aniny of traffic cones. But as I say, that's al behind lier now. Sue Evan- Jones finaliy passed lier test. Wliicli must be a relief for lier husband, Dave. He's a police traffic control officer. Could be worse. He could have been an automobile accident insurance adjuster. gKENDAL HALL NEWS Tliis lias been an active summer for the Members of the Lodges and the Hall lias been weli used.
