The Orono Basebail Team returned home champions and were given a royal welcome by close to 800 jubilant area resi- dents. Thie boys won the third and final gamne of the pla-yoff series withi Durhiam by a score of 6- 1. A motorcade awaited the arrivai of 'the team south of the Village and escorted the vie- tors mbt town with cheers, sounding of horns and sirens led by Orono High School Majorette Corps flowdby the Orono Band. Local town officiaIs, team manager and coaches preceded the open cars carrying the victorious players. The Orono Fire DepL,Ontario Hydro and numerous other vehicles were gayly decorated as the haîf mile long motor- cade passed through town! This was believed by many to be the greatest ever celebra- tory event within the village for a victorious team sport. Bantami Leafs emerged 4-2 Iwinners over Lindsay in an exhibition match last Friday here in Orono. It was the Leaf s third victory in as many games- in pre-season play. Orono led 1-0 after one and 2-1 after two periods of play. Leaf netmïinder Chris Burrit earned his second win of pre- season play. Shots on goal favoured the visitin g Lindsay club by a 26-20 margin.
