Donut Gallery suffered 2 defeats on weekend Orono Donuit Gallery Atom teams first game of the season was played against Orono's TRT team on Oct. 19. Donut Gallery's first goal was scored by Derek Seilars #88, early, in the first period. David Landmnan #4, left defense, went coast to coast with Joey Hill #9, rigbt defense, picking up another goal in the second. Donut Gallery was the dominant team in the Ibird period wbere Joey Hill #9, deaked bis way through and blasted one by witb the help of Andy Kadykalo #99. Minutes later Gerret Wood #44, ended the'scoring with an assist by Joey Hill #9. Lucas Szemiet #29 and Andy Perun #33 provided some great goaltending.- .Other team, members are: Tyler & Blair McKenzie 98 and #2, Mike Howe # 10, Josb Moffat #12, Brandon West 9193 and'Mark Kass #1. The weekfld started on a good note at home in Orono on Friday nigbt as the pee- wees had to Keep the Orono winning streak alive as both the novice afid atom teams had posted viçtories in the earlier games. The Markham Label squad gýt off toa quick start in this gaîne as they car- ried the play t@ Omemee but were unable to solve the Omemee gôalie. This seemed to, frustrate the Orono team and Omêmee was able to take advanitâge of a couple of chances as they scored 2 goals late in the first period to take1 an early 2 goal lead. The second period was scoreless and the 2 teams went to the dressing, room with Omemee holding the 2 goal advantagë: Orono staïted the third period with a 2 man advan- tage and was âble to capital- ize on the power play as Curt Robinson scored witb Lee Allin assistjpg. Tanner Millson wouid tie the game up 2 minutes lgter as he cor- ralled a loos@ puck in the neutral zone apid went in all alone and beai the Omemee goalie. Omem@e would corne right back atid regain the lead, but Lee Allun got the equalizer at th@ 8:44 mark of the third pefiod as Curt Robinson won the draw back to Allin at thë point and he blasted a slap shot past the Omemee goaliO. Orono kept pressing and with just 55 sec- onds left in the game Matt, Barries was âble to put a rebouind up over the Omemee goalie to give Orono a 4-3 victory. Game 2 of the weekend was in Haliburton on Saturday and t.he long drive must have affected the Markham Label squad as they put in a laçkluster effort and feli to the Haliburton Huskies by a 5-2 score. Aaron Robinson scored Oronos first goal on a nice rush with Jef Wright getting the'assist. Cameron James got the other Orono goal as Jamie Rowe fed him a icee pass to put him mn ail alone on the Huskie goalie. The 3rd game of the weekend was at homne on Sunday against Newcastle and the fans were treated to one of the best games of the year as th e tearns locked uip Sharing a Helher in a very physical gamie. Newcastle opened the scoring in the first period as they banged a loose puck from a scrarnble past Jeff Siemon in the Orono net. Newcastle scored the 2nd goal of the game late in the second period on a wicked slap shot that went over the shoulder of Josh Brandt. Nathan Caruana was able to put Orono on the scoreboard with just 2 seconds lefi in the second period as he jumped on a loose puck in the siot and ripped a slap shot into tbe top corner. The teams went to the dressing roomn witb Newcastle holding a slimAigoal lead. 1Orono came out fingin the 3rd period and had sever- al scoring chances but were unable to put one in the Newcastle net. The Markham Label squad pressed bard and looked like they would tie the game up but ran out of time as the game was curfewed with over 6 minutes left to play. Coach Brandt praisedthe' team in the dressing room after the game for their efforts and said that he was looking forward to the rematcb in Newcastle in January. The Markham Label team bas an exhibition gamne in Port Hope on Tuesday, a league game in Port Perry on Saturday, and return home to face Cannington at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
