Peewee Leafs Markham Label Leafs win ci pair The Orono Markham Label Peewees had a successful week as they were able to corne up with two impressive victories in their league schedule against Port Perry and Cannington. Saturday, November 1 st saw the Leafs on the road in Port Perry to take on the Predators. Port Perry was able to score the first goal of the game, on a power play but the Orono squad returned the favour and was able to tie the game up on their own power play as Curt Robinson banged home a rebound off a Lee Allin point shot. Robinson gave the Leafs the lead with his second of the night just 34 seconds later with Mark McAlister drawing the assist. Tanner Milison increased the Orono lead to 2 in the sec- ond period as he batted a cross ice feed from Kyle Searle out of the air into the Port Perry net. Milison added his second goal of the night later in the second period as Lee Allin drew the assist to complete the scoring for Orono. The third period saw Orono play short handed, for a good portion of it but with excellent penalty killing and outstanding goaltending the Label Leafs were able to keep the Predators off the score board to give them a 4-1 victory. Cannington canned Sunday, November 2 had the Leafs at home playing host to Cannington. Orono compfletely dominated this game as they skated away with a 12-1 victo- ry. Jamie Rowe led the way for the Leafs with a five-point night as he tallied up a goal and four assists. Lee Allin and Curt Robinson eaph had hat tricks and Cam jarPles contributed a pair of mark ers while Justin Szymczak, Ndhan Caruana and Jef Wright c@rntributed singles. Aaron Robinson had 3 assists while Justini Szymczak and Nathan Caruafla added a pair of helpers and Jesse Price, Mark McAlister, Tanner Milison and Kyle Searle contributed single helpers. Goaltender Josh Brandt also contributed to the Orono attack as he gained- an assist on a Lee Allun rarker. The O.M.H.A. Orono Markham Label Leafs peewee squad will be on the road in Manvers on Tuesday, Nov- ember 4th and will participate in tournament action in Mariposa on the weekend then return home for a garne on Sunday,-November 9th against Cobourg. Orono Bantam Leafs face off against their Millbrook counterparts on Friday, November 7th. Game time is 9 p.m. Aoe SuI On November 1lst the O.M.H.A. Russ Major Plumbing Novices travelled to Omemee where the Orono club gave this top ranked team everything they could handie for two and haîf periods. The plumbers just couldn't hold them off and finally went down to defeat 7-3 in the- third afier fighting a valiant battle. The entire team was present for this match-up including Daniel Reilly who was previ- ously away on holiday., The first Orono goal was scored by Ryan Knox and set Up by Josh Flynn. The second goal was put in by Cam Delorme with the helper going to Doug Deboo. The third Orono goal came from Cam Delorme from Darcy Mitchell. AIl three goals were great shots set up by some nice pass- es. Although suffering the loss, Shane Winters made some great saves for his club. Coach Boyd Knox and staff did a fine job behind the bench. The next game for the O.M.A.-A. Russ Major Plumb- ing Novices is.this Friday, November 7th vs. Cannington. Game time is 7:00 p.m., TRTtakes it on the chin in, exhibition play On November lst, TRT Sand and Gravel travelled to Millbrook for an exhiibition game. Kevin Martin would be playing 'out' for tlie first Urne tliis season wltli Mike Puddicombe between the pipes. There was some great defensive work by Jon Fowler and many scoring opportuni- ties by Cliris Buttonsliaw. The team did lots of skating and Mark Spiers really worked lard. Justin Guillemette skated liard and at 14:20 of thetlird period, lie finally s cored Orono's only goal oftlie game. Despite a good offensive effort by Andy Bangay, lis only' dlaim to fame this game would be lis two penalties. Defenseman David Apt did some good skating while play- ing forward in tlie tliird peri- od. Colin Maitland and Garret MacDonald made some superb defensive plays. Apple Blossom wins 7-5 In Carington Recreation House League last Sunday, the Apple Biossom Shop faced off against Bragg Bird Seed. Goalie T7roy Webster certainly had lis work cut out for hlm with many shots on net. Braggs started the scoring off. Devon Robinson thougit lie would even the score up, fol- oedby Paul Bridger. Braggs came back with 2 more goals, leaving the score 3-2 by the end of the first period. In the second period Orono worked liard for tliree more goals scored by Robyn Henderson, Devon Robinson and Daniel Hodgson. Braggs scored one more after a scramble in front of thie net. Things were tense on the bendlies witli Apple Biossorn leading 5-4 going into' the tliird period. Bowmanvîllle managed to sneak one more goal past T7roy. Orono'didn't like tlie score so close, so Andrew Kirkbride popped in two more goals to give us a bigger spread and win. Way to go Orono!
