Tbe flrst gaine of tbe weekend saw tbe Markham Label squad face off against tbe Ennisinore Eagles on Friday nigbt ln Oakwood. Orono started tbe gaine by applying great pressure in tbe Ennismore end but were unable to convert tbeir cbances and Ennismore was able to score on their first cbance as-tbey finlsbed off a 2 on 1 break. Ennismore was able to increase tbe lead by 2 a sbort time later and tbe first period ended witb Orono down by 2 goals. Curt Robinson finally got the Markbam Label squad on tbe board in tbe second period witb Natban Caruana and Jeif Wrgbt assIstlng. Kyle Searle tied tbe score just 2 minutes later as be made a nice rusb around an Ennismore defender to go in alone and beat tbe Ennismore poalle. Tanner Milîson and Matt Barnes assisted on tbe goal. Mlarkham Label umdefeat- ed i 4 league games The Orono Markbam Label peewees improved tbeir league record to 7 wins 4 loss- es and 1 lie as tbey defeated Manvers 5-2 in Manvers on Tuesday November 4, and lied Cobourg 3-3 in Orono on Sunday Nov. 9. The game in Manvers saw Orono score 4 unanswered goals in tbe third period to nvercoine a 2-1 Manvers lead., This was a very rougb contest wbicb saw the two teains cornbine for 60 minutes in penalties Jarnie Rowe contmnued bis strong play for the Markbam Label squad as h@~ notcbed 2 mark- ers includffg the gaine win- ner. The Marîthain Label squad took to the, !ce on Sunday against Cobourg after cap- turing the A chainpionship in a tournanient in Mariposa earlier in the day. It looked like that would be all the scoring in this gaine but Cobourg was given a power play with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game and they were able to capitalize on the opportuni- ty. Orono was given a penal- ty on the Cobourg goal and with the Cobourg goalie on the bencb they managed to tie the game with just 17.6 second left in the gaine. Even thougb many of these players go to scbool together, wben the Orono and Newcastle Jerseys go on you will see sheer determinalion ln the eyes of every player. It's too bad wben honest determination tumns into dirty hockey and we saw some of that Monday nigbt. It was a fast pac e gaine witb the teains equally matcbed. Wben the buzzer went off the score was 2-2. Orono played well as a teain with alI players givlng their best. Derek Heerschop scored unassisted in the flrst period.
