These numbers do flot include the resuits fromn advance poils. In Courtice, Ward 1, Hamre received 60% of the vote while in Bowmanvilie, Ward 2 she received 65%. In Ward 3, Bowmanville, east of Liberty St., Hamre received 63% of the vote, and in Ward 4 she received 56%. Voter turnout for the Municipality was calculated at 30%. TFhe numbers were slightly 'higher than that in Wards 2, 3 and 4. Because Ward i has the highest num- ber of eligibie voters and only 25% of them actually cast a ballot, it brought the overali percentage down. The numbers do improve as you go east. Ward 2 saw a 31% turn out, Ward 3 - 32% and Ward 4 - 3 8%. The highest percent tumnout of eligible voters was in Poil 3, of Ward 3, with 73%/ of voters casting a bal- lot. Poli 1, 2 and 3 were in the Wilmot Creek Retiremnent Village. Poil 1 had a 49% turnout and Polil 2 had a 50% turnouit. The iowest turnout in the Ward was from Poil 25, a rural poil south of Tyrone, with a 10% turnout. In Ward 4, Poil 20, wh ich was Orono village south, had a 44% tumout, the highest in the ward. The lowest turnout came from Poil 11, the north east section of the village of Newcastle, with 23% of ehi- gible voters casting a ballot. "Quite simnply, 1 arn tired, and 1 feel it is timne to move on to other things," said Witty following a news conference last Wednesday. Witty became Regional chair in 1995 after the death of former chair Gary Herremna. The $65,000/year, three year appointmnent has three potential candidates.
