Doreen Lowery, Annte A good crowd of members of the Orono Horticultural Society gathered on Decemnber 4 in the Main Hall of Orono Unted Church, with a pot-luck supper to begin the evening. Pres. Carol Mostert greeted everyone and grace was said by Rev. Mervyn Russell. The tables looked attractive with baskets of apples and candy canies and the food tables were laden with a wlde variety of deli- cious dishes. Carol Mostert introduced the head table which lnclud- ed: Ken Love, David Petrie. Kathleen Petrie, Cor Mostert, Carol Mostert, Lomna Atklns, Marj. Lowery, Charlie Trim and Flo Sharpe. Charlie Trim brought greetlngs from Clarington Council. Kathleen Petrie gave a report from District 17, and announced several future events. Secretary Lomna Atklns gave a report on the Soclety's events during the past year». TrYeasurer Hlo Sharpe gave the treasurer's report for 1997. In the Beautification report Cor Mostert thanked ail those who had worked on the Village flower beds that are taken care of by the Society. Doreen Lowery gave the report for the Christmas Show. The judgse Dm1i Schoenmaker congratulated the exhibitors on the beauti- fui arrangements in the show and gave several helpful hints. For the evenlng's enter- talnment. Minnie Zegers introduced Jessica Sherwin and Arnold Mostert who pro- vided some beautiful music in piano duets, vocal solos and then led the audience i some favourite Chrlstmnas carols.
