Duffenini's second goal was scored on a rushi by Kyle Barr unassisted. The Orono niovice squad made the road trip to Minden February 5th anid literally shocked the hometowni Minden crowd wheni they were defeated ini a niail-biter 1-0. Leafs victorlous over Langes Orono Bantamn Leafs, sponsored by The Building Place, played the Bowmanville Langes Photo in Orono on Feb. 9th. The teams were evenly matched in speed, handling, and fair play, yet Orono dominated the puck, givlng them the upper hand on scoring opportunities. We seen some fast, dlean hockey and good team work. in the first. Langes Photo were the first to get on the board with 9:56 showing. Orono skated bard and with only seconds left Rick Howe put on the speed, cleared al other players to corne face to face with the goalie. Ho-we made a great attempt to score, however, the goalie was victorious. Orono also served one penalty for interference, Bowmanville however, served none. In the second, defense man Casey Muizelaar rifled the puck from bis point right onto the stick of Scott Wood who popped it in. Bowmanville was then sent to the box for tripping. Orono took advan- tage of the power play and Scott Wood scored again with assists going to Rick Howe and Sean Pudlis. Derek Heerschop, one of the faster skaters for Orono, put it into high gear and beat Bowmanvllle to the puck and wbacked in a goal of perfec- tion; upper corner, congrat- ulations!! The assists went to Brad Wood and Adamn Rypstra. The final period saw no penaltie s and three goals. Sean Pudis was the big goal scorer in the third. The flrst goal he sent in unassisted with 11:00 on the dlock. Then again with 7:08 remain7 ing he brought the score to 5 with the help of Mark Brennan and Rick Howe. Bowmanvîlle poured on the power and tried desperately to g et onle past Ashley Getz, Who made some great saves, however, their determination paid off witb one more goal:5- 2 for the Orono Leafs. Although Orono played with a smaller bencb, they managed to turn up the heat wlth a 5- all tie. Michael Wb-ealun ini- tiated team momentum by poking in the puck early in the first period asslsted by Jocob Stockwell. Bowmanville scored 1i n the flrst. Pine Ridge notcbed four more goals in the second peri- od to take the lead into the third. DustIn Armstrong, unassisted, began the scor- ing spree. two minutes into the second period. Twormin- utes later, Luke Green took a pass fromn Kenny Jackson and wh-acked ini goal numnber three. Armstrong pelted in bis second go-al assisted again by Jackson. Jacob Stockwell clinched goal number 5 with Armstrong assisting. C.M.X. Express scored 3 goals near the end of the second period. In the final minute of the third Bowmanville took the wvin from Orono and tied the game. Coach Steve Lawrence taid Pine idge were well dis - ciplined, an-d played as a team. Netminder Troy Webster who played solid in net earning yet another shutout. Daniel Hodgson poked in a rebound on a pass from Paul Bridger and Michael Hlicks. Goal two also on the rebound was scored by Robin Henderson assisted by Andremw Kirkbride and Jessie Rice. Kirkbrîde slid one over the line in the second fromi Greg Howe and R. Henderson. Third period goals were scored by Heather Maitland, Paul Bridger and Devon Robinson. Garnering assists were Robinson, Lucas Lech (2), Kyle Balson, Jessie Rice îand Maïiand. Robcaygeon Tournament February 71h had Apple Blossomn Shop travelling to Bobcaygeon for somie tourna- ment action. With great antici- pation the Orono novices camne out flying against the OshaWa Bruins Minor 'A' Novices. Orono went ahead in the fîrst when Lucas Leech sped up the ice, sweeping past the Oshawa defence spotting an opening and sliding it past the Bruin's goaltender. P'aul Bridger assist- ed on the play. Solid defensive play in the second by Kyle Balson, Jessie Rice, Mark Franko and Paul Bridger elimi- nated any scoring chances the Bruins bad. At 5:52 Greg Howe gav.e Orono a 2-O lead with Kirkbride assisting on the goal. By the third period the Oshawa club was showing its frustration but finally managed to solve Orono netmninder Troy sleve Lawrence's final instructions were to have somnelfun. In period two Devon Robinson fought off the opposing defencemen and tucked one past the goalie with help from linemates Lucas Leech and Kyle Balson. Port Carling replied with a goal of their to tie it at , but only for a short time. Andrew Kirkbride gave Orono a 2-1 lead with Robinson and McKelvie assist- ing. Blossomis continued their scoring tactics as goalie Troy Webster miade a fine pass Io Paul Bridger who skated down the ice and deposited the puck in Port Caring's net to give Orono a two-goal lead. The Apple Blossoms started to wilt in the third as they gave up 3 ini a row to the Carling crew which gave Port Carling a 4-3 victory and putting Orono out of the toumnament. This past Sunday, the Apple Blossoms defeated Pineridge in a decisive 6-1 match:* Goals ,were scored by Devon Robinson (3), Andrew Kirkbride, Heather Maitland and Greg Howe.
