DOGS For health and safety rea-, sons. dogs are not permîtted on the school property. Not only do we have children who, are allergie and/or very fear- fui of dogs but, we need to ensure a dlean yard to play. BICYCLE SAPETY As the season for biking is rapidly approaching, we would like to take this oppor- tunity to remind ail parents of the need for famihlies to teach" and practice safe bicycling rules. Our local police recom- -mend that children below grade four do flot ride their bikes to school without an aduit accompaniment. The adults who have vislted the Safety Village saw flrst hand how vulnerable the children are while riding their bikes to school and were surprised that the children they thought were capable riders, were in fact relatively inexpe- rlenced and could pose a danger to theniselves and others on the road. Parents need to, check their children's bike helmets. If they no longer fit or are cracked/split. the helmets, need to be replaced. What better way to show you care than by providing your child with a OSA approved helmet. If you are thinkçing of pur- chasing a bicycle or cycllng equipment for your chlld, consider borrowlng the short video froni the school library, A Guide to Safe Cycling. It will help you decide on the proper size/fit of both bîke and helmet.
