Heather Rebekah lodge have open installation On Tuesday evening we bad a very fimportant evening of the Installation of Officers. Sister Gwen welcomed al visitors present and Sister Olive introduced Bro. Walter Griffin, District Deputy Grand Master of District'No. 41. Sister Gwen and lodges wel- comed him. Sister Olive then introduced Sister Barbara Montgomery, District Deputy President of Osbawa #8 East, Sister Gwen and lodges wel- comed ber and she was pre- sented witb yellow roses. Sister Barb Montgomery, D.D.P. had ber commission read by Sister Nýorma. A recess was then called and we proceeded to tbe Orono Town Hall where an Open Installation took place.'This was done very beautifiully by Sîster Barbara and ber installing team fromn Ganaraska Lodge. The next order of business - we were lnvited to several Lodges to watch the Installation of Officers to Sunshine Lodge on Monday night, to Maybelle on Tuiesday night; to Beehive on Monday, October 26 and to Cobourg Lodge- on November 3 for an, Open Installation and also to Ganaraska Christmas Tea & Bazaar on November 7. A tbank-you card fromn Mr. & Mrs. Jenry Duvaîl for hav- ing served dinner on their 5th Wedding Anniversary. Happy Birtbday was sung, to Sister Gladys Brown. Sister Betty Major gave a report why we were at the Town Hall this evening. The Orono Town Hall is celebrating 100 years old and askedf different orga- nizations to belp participate with tbem. Heatber Rebekah Lodge was instituted in this Hall 51 years ago last Marcb. A meeting was called by the President of the Rebekab Assembly for tbe purpose of instîtuting a Rebekab Lodge in Orono. It was beld in tbe Town Hall at 3:-30 p.m. on Marcb 26, 1947. Sister Mabel Disney, Past President of the Rebekah Assembly and from tbe Osbawa Lodge acted as Vice Grand assisting the President Sister Fletcher. Sister Gladys Morgan, D.D.P. was also from Oshawa Lodge and was the musician. There were five chartered Brothers and six chartered. Sisters, aIl have passed away, we still have one chartered member left Sister Hattie Wilson. There were five Brothers and thirty-three Sisters join the Lodge that evening. Brother Griffin brought greetings from the Grand Lodge of Ontario. Sister Barbara Montgomey brought greetings from the Rebekab Assembly and also outlined the President's program. Lodge closed according to, the Ritual and Heather Officers and members formed a circle and ail sang Bless Be The Tide Tbat Binds. We al retired to the Lodge Hall, wbere lunch was served to a large crowd. Councillor Troy Young bas, also agreed to shave bis head if Silk's Cafe reaches their target of $500 and with agood week it looks, like he will be heading for council chambers with a new look. To help reacb tbeir goal, the Bow & Fiddle are holding raffles and asking suppliers for assistance. Raffles are also being beld at Hanc's Too and Massey House. Tickets for a bus trip to Casino Rama on October 24 are on sale at Tim's Fiftb Wheel and Tim's Fifth Wheel will also be con- ducting a "Slave" Auction amâong its employees. 1The ten establishments involved'bave raised over $5000 s0 far for Big Brothers of Clarington's friendsbip pro- grams. Currently, Leslie, Bowi & Fiddle with $1644 is lead- ing the way and is followed closely by Michelle, King Street Bar & Grill witb $14130. Janet, Tim's Fifth Wbeel and Margaret, Hanc's Too are doing their best to catchi the leaders witb $883.20 an-d $647.31 respectively. Ini fifth place is Sophie. Massey Bouse wvitbi $390.74 anid she is beinig chased by Terry, Swiss chalet with $302. Paul, Eastside Mario's; Belinda, Silk's Cafe and Lisa, Port Darlington Marina are slowly gaining ground and witb a good week could challenge the lead.
