Many LIBERAL NEWS RELEASE CüMLrozier challenges Minister over g as price inaction Liberal MPP Bruce Crozier (Essex South) debated the Minister of Consumer and Commercial, Relations David Tsubouchi regarding the large increase in gas prices before' the long weekend. TI-is addi- tional debate took place after Crozier was dissatisfied wth the answer provided by the MinIster last week. "I wanted a straiglit answer as to when the Harris government was going to do something to stop gas gouglng. Studylng the issue further, and claiming that bis 'gas busting' MPPs armed with Polariod cameras, are keeping gas prices down - does not count as action in my book," said Crozier. In this extended debate, Minister Tsubouchi deflected responsibility for gas prizes on the Competition Bureau and went on to report that the Issue was studied at the Provincial Ministers' confer- ence in Saskatchewan, -and would be brouglit up again at the next meeting. Crozier replled: -This is a problem bags of rice, cereal and pasta were also donated. Overail, class 8C brought in the most items, weighing a total of 162 kg. This represents a per capita donation of 5.8 kg. Such gen- erosity ýearned this class the privilege of free ad mission to, the upcoming Halloween dance to be held at The Pines on October 30th from 1:30 until 3 p.m. In addition to the 'food donation, $43 was raised through a fund raising event which allowed students anda staff to wear their hats in class fi for'an entire day on October i Sth. Through participated in the food drive, students leamed more ýabout the needs of others in our local community and lived up to the school motto of "Respect, Relationships, 'and Resuits". that can be deait with in Ontario by our government; Premier Harris as far back as September 1997 said that he was 'going to bring the oul companles to heel.' What has he done since? Nothlng." "If the Harris government is really concemned about the gas price hikes and says it is going to do something about it - it should put its money where its mouth is and take action. If not, the Minister should Just Say he is con- cerned about the issue and not fooling the public into thinkçing that bis government is dolng something to stop oul companies from preying on consumers," sald Crozier. The government lias yet to con- sider regulatlng the oil Indus- try. * i ~t*ie~ ~R.~A~UÈ IeU -I 4 11 I :~U M. i " Pedicure " Manicures "Waxing " Nail Extensions " Ear Candling - Eyelash Tinting ESTHETIC STUDIO 71 Mill St., Orono, Ontario LOB 1JMO Brigitte Brown GeftCertificates available NEW!
