December 24th. 50/50 RAFFLE WINNERI On Saturday, December 5th, 1998 at 12:30 p.m., the winning ticket for the Clarke Museum's annual 50/50 raf- fie was drawn. The wvinning ticket number is #00912 and belongs to the Rotary Club of Bowmanville., The prize On Decemiber 9, the Lions Clubil of Newcastle- held its Iast regular meeutin'g of thec year. Guests at the meeting were Samn Brereton, 1Irv McCullough and Adamn Reese. "Members Whio's Who" for this meeting was Lion Francis Jose. Francis, a life-long Newcastle boy, was bomn on the famrily farin down on Metealfe St. He received hîs education in Newcastle, Bowmianville, and at the Agricu1tuxra1 College in Kemptville and operated the far-m with his father and bis own tfntil 1986 when he sold the herd. He sold the farmn in 1988. Francis, for miost of his adult lîfe, has been involved in Church organizations and boards, and later, Parkview Senior Residence, Durham Central Fair Board, and vani- ous agricultural boards. Married to Erla, they have 3 cilidren, sons living in Newcastle and Acton, and a daughter ln Georgetown. Francis joined fthe club in February 1994, and has served on committees such as Clubs& [Orqranizations j i & Archives amnount is $455.00. Congratulations to the Rotary Club and thank you to everyone who supported the Museum by buying a tick- et. Toastmaster Russ Le Blanc presented the "True" fact about his life and how he became Santa. Chairman Toastmaster Brian Forrest selected wishes as his theme and the elves at the head table added their wlshes to the list. Dressed as an elf Toastmaster Marilynn Dow warmly introduced the speak- ers.
