Bronze medal for Sarah Adam Colville all set for Nationals Adam Colville is as ready as he'il ever be right now while preparing for the upcoming Canadian National Figure Skating Championships. He's no stranger to national competitions. Last year Adam finished fifth overalil in the junior men's event and hopes to improve on it this year. In addition, he was named to the National Junior Men's team competing in two international competitions--the Triglav Cup in Jesenice, Slovenia last April, where he was the top Canadian placing fifth overall; then, finishing in ninth spot at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest this past October. Adam leaves for Ottawa January 25. The short program is scheduled for Thursday, the 28th at noon followed by the long program. sometime Saturday morning. In a telephone interview Sunday, Adam stated that he was both mentally and physi- cally prepared for the competi- tion especially after having had a terrific week of practice. He is quite looking forward to the competition. Adam won't be without fan support in Ottawa either, as his family will be on hand to cheer him on. In addition, several mem- bers of the Orono Figure Skating Club will also be in the stands--Joan Moffat and her daughter Michelle, Karen & Cara Collier, and Carol, Jennifer & Andrea Lamont will also be part of the Colville contingent. Best of luck Adam! Orono figure skating club hosted the Eastern Pine Ridge Interclub Competition last week Saturday. One hundred and forty skaters from Newcastle, Bowmanville, Orono, Port Hope, Port Perry, Oshawa, Blackstock, Cobourg, Whitby and Hamilton/Hope Township took part in the competitive skate. Skaters competed in the Pre-Preliminary class right up to the Senior Silver, and included open team elements, solo dance, free skate, pairs and interpretive events.
