Furious first'shift action found the gravel guys leaving the puck on the goal line - twice - they were pressing liard. At 8:d7, center Rob Blaker notched 1-e io's first, snapping in a re ound off a Daniel Hodgson shot. Two minutes later, Oshawa lied il up, but Blaker bit back bouncing in another rebound, this time off defence- man Nathan Smith's hard shot. Gravel defenceman Devin Robinson scored TR's third on an end to ender, breezing by three checkers and blasting one through the pads. Oshawa hung tough with their second on a screened shot late in the period. Not mucli shook down in the second. The only goal was popped in by winger Dustin Armstrong from Robinson and Ty ler Elson. The speedster Joshi Dobson planted a powerpîay goal early in thie third; a period where the teami struck fo r four. Defenceman Jevon Staples nailed TRT's sixth, landing a wrist shot from inside the blue uine, Josh Dobson assisting. They were at home and had their fans cheering themn on and looked pumiped and ready to prolong the series. But, Madoc had other plans and quickly built up a 2-0 lead before the end of the first period. They came on strong dur- ing the latter stages of the sec- ond period. Matt Reid hiad a great scoring OPPOrtunity on a wrap-around but failed to get it *t the goalie before they 'ýeft to the dressing still down four. Madoc scored to open the third going up by 5 and it looked as thougli their fate was sealed and the game was over. But, Orono finally got things going and founid the net with six minutes left on1 the dcock as Jeif Thlompson scored an uplifting and inspirational goal from Dan Tresise and Lee Allin. Just twenty-lwo seconds later, they did il again. Derek Heerschop fired one home frorn centre ice. Asssisswenl to Allin and Thornpson. Then, thirty seconds later, Jeff Thompson did it again scoring Orono' 's third goal from Mati Reid and Dan TIresise--cuittingl Madoc's lead to two. Madoc pretty well held the locals back until just under a minute lefi in the game when Reid set up Thompson for his second goal of the gamne iak- ing it 5-4 with Allin picking up the other assist. Orono was riding higli and kept the pressure on the Madoc goaltender. Unifortunately, they Family Auto ran out of trme unable to sink the gamne-tying goal surrenderinig 5-4 to Madoc. Although hiavingl been elim- inated from playoffs, the boys showed true grit and great determination almost pulling off an upset win. Congratulations on a great season. Exhibition play Sunday niglit, the Family Auto bantamis played an exhi- biion game against St. Paul's-- a teamn they'd played earlier in tournament action. This was a close gaine with scoring opportunities for both teams. Aaron Robinisoin as the star of the gaine, nielting, a hiat- t rick. Derek Heerschop added the deciding goal in a 4-2 vie- tory for Oronio.
