14 - Orono Weekly Times Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Visual Arts Centre of Clarington Wall to Wall (Sweepstakes for Cheapskates) Our 2nd A n n u a l Wall to Wall Fundraising Event is on May 1st at 7 pm. Previews on April 28th, 29th and 30th during regular gallery hours. Every ticket holder is guaranteed to walk away with an original work of art valued well above the $125 ticket price. We jokingly call this event "The Sweepstakes for Cheapskates". The event features over 50 original works of art generously donated by professional artists. There are only 50+ tickets available. Original art has never been so affordable-a special thank you to the participating artists including: Joan Attersley, Jane Eccles, Ron Eccles, Richard Toms, Karen Richardson, Maureen Lowry, Holly McClellen, Kevin Craddock, Jeremy Desjardine, Sean McQuay, JeanMichel Komarnicki, Olexander Wlasenko, Margaret Rodgers, Shirley Heard, Libby Hague, Akira Yoshikawa, George Antonov, Kremena Antanova, David Armstong Six and more... All funds raised will be used to improve the gallery's programming and exhibition spaces. The VAC has seen unprecedented growth in the last few years; the Board of Directors and staff have worked hard to improve the gallery, upgrade existing spaces, creating a safer, more accessible facility. Funds raised from Wall to Wall will be directed to continue this process of improvements. How does the event work? Tickets are sold on a first come-first served basis to a maximum-the number of works donated. Throughout the evening our Emcee (Kevin Frank-Second City alumnus, currently Artistic Director of their Training Centre) will draw tickets in a random order. When a ticket is drawn, that ticket holder will have their choice of artwork. The sooner you are drawn, the more selection there will be. Every ticket holder is guaranteed an original work of art. The event will feature refreshments in the heartwarming historic atmosphere of the Cream of Barley Mill-a good time is guaranteed for all! Tickets are on sale now!
