The Ganaraska Forest Centre is located just 20 minutes from Port Hope and Orono. When travelling from the west, exit Hwy. 115 and travel east about 10 km on Durham Road 9. Turn left at the Cold Springs Camp Road sign and proceed 4 km to the forest. From the east, travel west off County Road 28 onto County Road 9 and proceed about 2 km west of Elizabethville. Turn right at Cold Springs Camp Road and travel 4 km to the forest. Horse drawn wagon rides, crafts, tours of the Ganaraska Forest, music, face painting, food and refreshments are all part of the annual Ganaraska Forest Open House & Members' Day - in partnership with Cameco Corporation. This year marks a special occasion as the new Ganaraska Forest Centre opens its doors in September and the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority welcomes the public to tour the new facility during this event on Saturday, October 3rd 2009. The fun filled day begins at 12:00 p.m. and runs until 3:00 p.m. and is full of activities for people of all ages. Join us, rain or shine, for this free event and bring your family and friends out to take the opportunity to find out about the recreational activities the forest provides, and the outdoor education programs and special events that take place at the centre all year round. "The redevelopment of the Ganaraska Forest Centre has been in the works for quite some time. We are very happy to have the project complete and are excited to welcome visitors out to the new multi-use facility," states Linda Laliberte, CAO/Secretary-Treasurer. "We would also like to remind everyone that the Building for Change raffle draw will take place during this special event."
