The Barry/Bryan & Associates Newcastle Stars Novice Rep Team rocked the arena, winning the International Sliver Stick Championship on January 24th! The young Newcastle team qualified for this Invitational tournament only after winning the Regional Silver Stick in Wasaga Beach on the weekend of Dec. 5-6. The victory makes history, being the first Newcastle Novice Team to win an International Sliver Stick Championship. The Stars faced some strong competition from the best U.S. and Canadian Novice Teams. Newcastle battled their way to the finals against one of their arch rivals, a fellow Canadian team, the Lucan Irish. The game was scoreless in the first period, but the Lucan Irish could not stop the relentless balanced attack from the Newcastle Stars. Both teams played a great game, but the Stars dominated the next two periods, marking the score board with a win of 4-1. Congratulations Newcastle Stars on your victory & well deserved Championship! Team players are Thomas Loudfoot, Carter Watkins, Conner Sayers, Conner Davies, Trent Yarrow, Ryan Chaffey, Austin Yates, Max Stapleton, Tim Robinson, Jorden McCool, Tyler McGarvey, Jacob Cavers, and Luke Ladouceur. Coaching Staff: Head Coach: Jay photo supplied Summers, Assistant Coaches: Roger Yates & Marc Ladouceur, Trainer: Jim Cavers, Manager: Tricia McCool. A special thank-you to both Barry/Bryan & Associates and Hobbs & Company for their financial support and sponsorship. The Banner and Trophy will be displayed with pride at the Newcastle Memorial Arena.
