Wednesday, March 10, 2010 Orono Weekly Times - 3 HIDDEN Continued from page 2 says he had some serious misgivings. He passed his concerns on to Mr. Wu, but Mr. Wu chose to ignore the legal opinion. Why? At a Clarington GP&A meeting (Feb. 22) the Local Councillors (including Gord Robinson) voted to see the comments by our solicitor even though the Mayor and Regional Councillor Mary Novak were opposed; Regional Councillor Charlie Trim was absent. The following week, on March 1 at the regular Council meeting, Mr. Robinson flipped his vote (a habit he has acquired) and he, along with Abernethy, Novak and Trim, defeated the motion. What are they trying to hide? What was in the two-page memorandum from our solicitor that the Mayor, Councillors Trim, Novak and Robinson wanted to keep from the other Councillors, and more importantly, from the public? The public has a right to know what Hefferon was concerned with. This document spells out in part a number of important items relating to financial matters, and more importantly, on matters dealing with air quality along with other environmental monitoring. Our Councillors (Foster, Hooper and Woo) along with the general population are being deprived of valid legal concerns as expressed by our solicitor. What is the Mayor trying to hide?
