Orono opened the scoring with just two-and-a-half minutes left in the first when, on a two-on-one break, Matthew Caudle got a shot on net which resulted in a juicy rebound that John Sims lifted up over top of the goalie and in. Clarington responded with a goal of its own with just four seconds left in the period to tie it at 1. Early in the second, they slipped another past Kevin to go up by 1. Facing a lot of shots, Kevin made many saves including two amazing ones midway through the second. But late in the second, Clarington was able to score two more to put the game at 41. The larger ice surface seemed to affect the Orono players and their clearing shots and passes were a little less effective. In the third, Orono worked hard and held Clarington at bay until there were just under two minutes left when Clarington netted one more for a 5-1 win over Orono. Sunday saw a return to the ice as Orono faced the division leaders. Called early for too many men on the ice, Orono fought off the penalty and boosted their confidence. A minor line shuffle for this game seemed to work well for Orono, as all the lines seemed to be having opportunities as well as providing strong defensive play. Josh Hill was back in net for the first half and came up with some great saves to hold the score to 1-0 Clarington from late in the first until well into the second. Clarington scored in the second, but Orono continued to work hard in this fastpaced, exciting game. With 2:53 left in the second, Matthew got a shot on net, then a second chance on the rebound and with the puck still loose in the crease, Matthew and a Clarington player fought to gain control of the puck. Matthew's muscling won out and he was able to put it past the goalie for Orono's only goal. Despite their strong play and determination, Orono lost this one 3-1. Great effort team!
