Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Orono Weekly Times - 7 Orono Bantam Rep Leafs give back to the community by Sonya Pratt The Orono Bantam Rep Leafs participated in the Warriors Tournament in St. Catharines on March 19, 20, and 21. Orono started out against the North Frontenac Flyers and were a little nervous when North Frontenac scored against them in the first 13 seconds of the game. Orono's usual 16-player roster was down to 12 players since some players were away. But the boys came through with a 4-3 win! Then the team went on to face the Otonabee Wolves. The final score was 6-3 for Orono. Their third tournament game was against the Fenelon Falls Flyers and what a game that was. Orono held on to a 1-0 lead, with the only goal scored by Connor Hegan. So far the team was undefeated. Orono went on to play the Brighton Braves and tied them 2-2, so they were still undefeated. Orono was off to the semi-finals to play against the Otonabee Wolves again. Orono lost this game 4-1. The only goal was scored by Mitch Van Schyndel. This was a fun tournament for players, parents and coaches and we're proud of our boys! All players contributed to the team's statistics: Glenn Acorn - goalie; Dustin Boyd photo supplied Joan Haring, Co-ordinator of the Clarington East Food Bank, accepts non-perishable food items from the Orono Leafs Bantam Rep players, March 3 at the Orono Arena.
