Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Orono Weekly Times - 5 BOOK SALE Continued from page 3 sorted out that way, but some of the fun is seeing what treasures you can come up with in you own. One thing you do know for sure, if it has a hard cover it is yours for a dollar and soft cover books go for fifty cents. Take that Heather Reisman, Indigo and Chapters! On any given day, new boxes of books are being delivered and you can explore them too, part of the adventure before they are even unpacked. All our books are donated to this project and you would be absolutely amazed what some people read and donate. Most weeks, donations outnumber sales and there is a constant supply of new-to-us material. All book sale money goes to the upkeep and maintenance of old Kirby Church project to keep this lovely heritage building safe and structurally sound until such time as we are able to move it across the highway to a permanent site as part of the Clarington Museum and Archives, Clarke Museum schoolhouse just a thousand meters away. The people who run the book sale do this on a volunteer basis because they want to help preserve the building. Your help in this project, in anyway including a visit to the book sale is appreciated. Come once to see it and participate. You will return often because it is fun and educational. This message used to be delivered by the minister to the congregation sitting in the pews. Now the pews are packed full of messages just for you. Open every Saturday from now until end of November (when heating cost start to exceed book sale revenues!) from 10 am. Until 3 pm. Hope to see you there whether you are preparing to do some summer reading or stocking up some great reading for the next winter in front of the fire. Rick Hodges' piece Suspended Chair is part of the Nexus Gallery's Living Better exhibit. The Gallery in the former Flax Mill is open by chance or by appointment by calling 905-485-0079
