Wednesday, June 30, 2010 Orono Weekly Times - 13 Local students earn awards for excellence Awards for academic excellence were presented to a number of Clarington students at the beginning of Monday night's council meeting. Clarington schools were asked to submit names to council of students who, in their opinion, demonstrated academic excellence combined with a commitment to leadership and community service. Local students who were presented with the Award for Excellence by Mayor Jim Abernethy Monday night were: Madilyn Darrach of The Pines Senior Public School, Catriona Bellingham of Clarke High School and Ayrton Lucyk of St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School. Secondary School award recipients also received a $100 bursary from the Municipality to further their educational pursuits.
