Wednesday, November 10, 2010 Orono Weekly Times - 7 LOCAL SPORTS Orono peewee reps win over Wild 8-3 by Vicki Haass BEAVERTON -- The Orono Newcastle Funeral Home peewee reps travelled to Beaverton Sunday to play the Brock Wild hoping to redeem themselves after being pummelled in a previous meeting and that is exactly what they did winning 8-3. Ryan Zeus opened the scoring on a pass from Devon Dennis, but Brock quickly tied the game. In the 2nd, Kyle Cordes scored unassisted and then Zeus netted another assisted by Cordes and Zack Lagace. Brock managed another goal late in the period. In the 3rd, Orono came out on fire. Cordes scored another with help from Lagace and Zeus. Dennis tipped a pass into the net from Lagace. Mathieu Phillipe found the back of the net helped by Dennis. Zeus then scored a hat trick, assisted by Cordes and Lagace. Brock finally managed another goal and then Lagace scored, assisted by Dennis and Gus Qualtrough, leaving Brock wondering which was the real Orono team. In previous games, Orono beat Ops 8-0 earning goaltenders Kevin Gough and Gibson Hegan their first shutout of the year, and lost 5-4 to Mariposa and 83 to Manvers. Points in those games were: Cordes (5g,1a), Tyler Morton (4g,4a), Zeus (2g,1a), Dennis (1g,5a), Seth Hampson (1g,3a), Lagace (1g,1a), Sean O'Brien (1g), Zack deBoer (3a), Matthew Haass (3a), Phillippe (1a) and Qualtrough (1a).
