6 - Orono Weekly Times Wednesday, December 8, 2010 CARDS Orono Midgets try but don't succeed by Ashley Bain The Orono Midget rep team had yet another game at home Sunday, as they went head to head again with Sturgeon Lake. Although Sturgeon scored in less than 12 seconds of the game's beginning, the boys looked promising as the first period started, keeping Sturgeon on their toes. With the second period underway, Orono started to fall apart at the seams; although they scored 2 goals, they allowed Sturgeon to score 4, making the score going into the third 5-2 Sturgeon Lake. The third period turned out to be an unlucky one for Orono, as Sturgeon was able to score another 3 goals, making the final score 8-2 Sturgeon. Chris Kuijpers scored Orono's goals, with the only assist going to Cody Lamers. The Orono Midgets are sponsored by Two Men and a Truck. However, the boys did not let up until they finally broke through and scored in a most surprising 1 to 0 victory. The hero of the day was Cody Luciano, who could not have picked a better time to score his 69 90 68 76 99 106 185 87 78 123 128 112 175 112 125 81 121 87 140 84 105 145 155 157 137 134 DURHAM COUNTY SENIORS EUCHRE RESULTS FOR DEC. 6TH TOP SCORES first of the season. While there was officially no assists, his linemates, Brett Diamond and Ben LeClair, deserve some credit. Brandon Adams also deserves mention because his shut-out was key to the victory and his stops on several breakaway attempts kept the Leafs' offense focused on chipping away at the other end. for Nov. 30th BOWLER GAME ONE GAME TWO 1st Reid Harness 2nd Eleanor Perrin 3rd Merrill Graham 4th Ina Smith (tie) Olive Little 86 84 72 70 70 Alec Martin Alli Strutt Bob Scales Elaine Doty Jack Watson Jim Low John Tigwell Marie Trim Marg Wade Roy Hopkins Russell Powell 179 155 183 158 160 172 152 189 196 209 154 180 152 151 163 143 167 163 LADIES' LEAGUE Mondays 7-9pm ST.
