Gleaned from past editions of the Orono Weekly Times United Church Basement in order to hear the worldfamous Rubinoff serenade them with his Stradivarius violin which is worth $100,000.00. Upon entering the Church many of the students, particularly the boys were grumbling about having to listen to a `squeaky violin'. This attitude soon changed. After hearing Rubinoff play "Fiddlin' the Fiddle", which himself composed, he "Around the World" and "Only You", they were amazed. They just couldn't believe that a man could put such feeling into music. When Rubinoff played "Only You", some of the girls found themselves crying, and the boys were so enraptured, they sat as if they were in some kind of trance. Rubinoff was accompanied by a 25 year old pianist named David Burk, who is also an accomplished musician. The Orono Branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has on display a picture of the new bank building to house the Orono Branch in the near future. The building is to be constructed on a site on the west side of Main Street in the southern portion of the Downtown area on a location which is currently a vacant lot. It is expected construction will start later this spring.
