Dear daughter of the late Clarence and Jean Sleightholm. Beloved wife and best friend of John for 55 years. Loving mother of Kimberly Grant (Jim), Jennifer Shephard and John Shephard (Rosalind). Proud Grama of Jamie Grant, Kailey Grant, Joshua Shephard, Jessica Shephard, Ricky T. Hughes and Melissa Sands (Doug). Adored Great Grama (G.G.) of Kaylyn Grant , Layla Shephard, Darryen, Teleena and Castynn Sands. Kathleen will be dearly missed by her four sisters and brother-in-laws, Lois and Jim Watson, Sheila and the late Stan Atkinson, Jean and Charlie Gallogley, Maureen and Alex McDonald and her Aunt Lois Sleightholm. Kathleen will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. People who knew Kathleen will remember her as a woman who always put her family first and had a great sense of humour. Ed was a Provost Marshall, British 11 Squadron and veteran of World War II, life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178 of which he was a 3 term Past President with 5 years of service to all branch committees, Past President and life member of the Newcastle Lions Club with 50 years of committee service, Past Lions Zone Chairman and a proud recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Ed was a past member and director of the United Way for Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington. Ed was also recognized with a Provincial citation from the Province of Ontario for Volunteer service and Citizen of the year in 1984 by the former Town of Newcastle. Ed is survived by his cherished wife Mona, and his loved children Gary Majer and his wife Andrea, Caroline and her husband Chris Tompkins and Marysia and her partner George. Loving grandfather of Kim, Kate, Jill, Joanna, Shaun, Kristin and Davis. Loving great-grandfather of Jack, Grace and 1 expected great grandchild in March.
