Partner looking for a washroom At the tail end of Monday's General Purpose meeting Councillor Wendy Partner requested two reports from staff. The first report Partner requested was for the cost estimate to pave the parking lot at the Orono library. Secondly, Partner asked for a report on how to bring a permanent outdoor washroom to the downtown core of the village of Orono. With the east side of the main street on holding tanks and the west side on septic, some businesses are experiencing hardship with letting the public use their washrooms, Partner reported. Partners's motion was massaged to include all the downtown areas of Clarington, and then had to be massaged again to include urban area's at the request of Courtice Councillor Mary Novak, recognizing Courtice did not have a downtown. The Orono Business Improvement Association has long advocated for a public washroom facility in the downtown core as there currently is no such facility available to the many visitors who come to the village.
