Wednesday, October 17, 2012 1937 - 2012 · Celebrating 75 Years Orono Weekly Times - 7 Get in the spooky spirit The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) invites you to get into the Hallowe'en spirit on Friday, October 26th from 6:00pm 9:00pm at our annual Hallowe'en Howl public event. Activities will include pumpkin carving, Hallowe'en crafts, an active campfire with songs, skits, hot chocolate and lots of laughs, and then go on a guided night hike through the Ganaraska Forest and learn about the world of nocturnal animals. People who plan to participate in the Hallowe'en Howl event are reminded to dress warmly and for rain or shine, bring a flashlight and a sense of adventure. Since there is limited space for participants for this event, pre-registration and payment are required by calling 905-885-8173 or visit the GRCA administration office on County Road 28 in Port Hope. Admission is $12.00/adult and $6.00/child. The Ganaraska Forest Centre is approximately a 15minute drive from Orono and a 20-minute drive from Port Hope. If you are travelling from the west, exit Hwy. 115 and travel east about 10 km on Ganaraska Road 9. Turn left at the Cold Springs Camp Road sign and proceed 4 km to the forest. From the east, travel west off County Road 28 onto Northumberland Road 9 and proceed about 2 km west of Elizabethville. Turn right at Cold Springs Camp Road into the forest.
