An event of pleasure and importance in the lives of-the aged people of the congregation congregation was fittingly celebrated Monday evening at the Methodist. Church when the Leaguers held their annual At Home for the aged members. Owners of autos kindly made it possible for those who were unable to walk to be present. After serving a splendid supper from tables nicely decorated with flowers and laden with good things, a social time was enjoyed enjoyed until the sixty . guests had been served. In the meantime several piano duets were> nicely rendered by Misses Florence Allen and Minnie Trebilcock, Misses Belle and Doris Courtice, and Miss Margaret and Master Lawrence Kerr. Pastor Kenny was chairman , and briefly repeated what he had no nicely said- on Sabbath morning as to* his pleasure in such a gathering, it being unique and rare and a happy thought of the.Leaguers, as a gathering of this kind is seldom, if ever, heàrd of in any other congregation. After singing '^Blest-be thi tie that binds" Rev. Father Jolliffe offered a beautiful r nd appropriate prayer, and Mrs. Deyman contributed two piano solos, "Nearer, my God, to Thee" and "Rock of Ages" with variations, that were very appropriate, and much enjoyed. - Little Jennie Merchant Merchant sang a^solo nicely, and Miss Rilda Slemon favored with a recitation "He Leàdeth Me" that was greatly - appreciated. appreciated. Rev. Mr. Kenny gave a brief âd dress on the honor of being "counted in and counted on", the two, strong practical points being important and suggestive to every life. . Mrs. Hancock, of Moose Jaw, Sask., greatly pleased and entertained entertained her hear rs by kind y -favoring with two beautiful solos/fAbide with me" .and "Rock ofj^ges", and- at the request of the audience as an encore sang a gospél hymn "There is a green hill far away". She possesses à beautiful voice and her kindness in so generously helping on the program was highly appreciated. Among the guests of the evening was Rev. Vi H. Emery, pastor, of Clinton Street Methodist Methodist .Church, Toronto, and a former pastor of this congregation, who, after, exprès sing his pleasure at being present at this social gathering of aged people, a place he would rather e than anywhere else in the world outside of his own home, congratulated congratulated the pastor on being surrounded by such a group of ripened years, spoke principally to the young people on "Memory" saying that it was either a scourge or a blessing and that if they would pluck roses they must sow the seed that produces them, and so direct' their lives that.in years to come memory will bring to them the thought of good deeds, done. He commended them for this kind act to the aged people. Rev. T. W. Joiliffe, another former pastor, and a faithful visitor and worker among the families of the congregation added a few . kindly words of greeting which were also enjoyed. At the close Presidént Rd. Snowden moved, Mr. Rich. Osborne seconded and Councillor P. Trebilcock supported a hearty vote : of thanks to all who had contributed to the program. Mr. James McLean moved, Mr. Wm. Folëy seconded, and Dr. W. E. Tilley supported a vote of thanks to the Leaguers for their splendid entertainment Pastor Kenny made a few closing remarks and after singing a verse of "God be with you till we meet again" and the -benediction -benediction by Rev.
