DOGNÔT1CE Notice is hereby, given to all citizens of the town pf BowmanviUe that the Council of BowmanviUe did on the twenty-sixth instant pass the most drastic by-law that it knew how to prepare relating to the running at large of dogs for a period to the first day of October next inclusive. A dog effected with rabies has been biting other dogs, chickens, a child and an adult, and the Board of Health lias pronounced it rabies and urged drastic action by the Council. Rabies has been, discovered in the township of Darlington and animals effected have been killed. A representative of the Provincial Board of Health, as well as of the Dominion Board, strongly urged action by the Cotmcil. Dogs are prohibited from running at large within the limits of BowmanviUe to the first day of October next and it is declared that a dog shall be deemed to be running at large if found or seen in any -yard, street or public highway or other public place within the limits of BowmanviUe, and not confined on a chain insidè of a building or under the control of a male person over twenty- one years of age by the said male having having thè said dog securely fastened on a chain in his hands. Provision is made that the confinement of dogs within a building must be made forlhwith and any dog found running at large shall bet killed by fcjhe Chief of Policeforth- wifch, arid if the medical officer of health for the town suspects that any dog is effected or likely to be effected with rabies lie shall order its destruction destruction byO-he Chief of Police. A penalty, is provided in the by-law to be applied to every owner, possessor possessor o/harbourer of a dog who permits any such d v g to run at large within the limits of BowmanviUe of a fine not exceeding $50, exclusive of costs.
