Farr, President, formerly of this town, was re-elected chief head of the District. The Era speaking of the musical part of the program says: "Through the efforts of the District President, Prof. C. C. Laugher's services at the piano were secured. He holds talent in the musical profession which is given to only a few, and his name will not soon die out from among those privileged to hear him. Bowmanville Methodists are proud to claim him as their organist and choir leader, and as a teacher of singing in the Public Schools of the town and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of 3° pieces* He is a valued acquisition to any city, town or municipality." Mr. Milton Slemon, Haydon, writes a very good article on the benefits of a short course at the Agricultural College, Guelph, in the Canadian Countryman of Dec. 8. Mr. Slemon thinks a two weeks' course is the ideal investment for all young ' Canadian farmers. Oyer 200 young men are going back to their homes all over our Dominion after two weeks at the O. A. C., filled full of great ideals, such as better and more live stock, purer seed selection, thus insuring greater production production "along many lines of farming. The course creates greater interest in better farming by the latest methods, greater crops, fertilizing, etc. Getting acquainted with so many young farmers, getting their ideas on different lines, and meeting under social conditions knocks off the rough corners and makes a young farmer feel like a man. In conclusion he said not one of us regretted the time and money spent, only wished it were two weeks longer. I TYRONE An interesting Christmas program is prepared for League this (Thursday) evening.
